Beeline

Privacy

What we keep, what we never keep, and how to delete it.

We never store your voice

Your microphone audio is turned into text while you play and then discarded. Beeline never saves recordings of you, on our servers or in your browser.

What we store when you're signed in

  • Your email address (to sign you in), and your name and picture if you use Google.
  • Your settings: display name, country, accent, moderator speed, sound effects.
  • Your runs: which words you were given, the letters you spelled, whether they were right, which questions you asked, how long each word took and the XP you earned.
  • The text speech recognition heard for each attempt (for example “o n o m”), so you and we can check recognition accuracy. You can delete these at any time.
  • Your review schedule, streak, level and badges.

Data is held by Supabase in the EU (Paris) and the app runs on Vercel. Row-level security means each account can read only its own records.

Playing as a guest

Without an account, your progress is saved only in this browser (local storage) and never sent to us. If you later sign in, your guest runs are uploaded to your account and removed from the browser.

Who else is involved

  • Speech recognition. Signed-in players use Deepgram, which receives your microphone audio to turn it into text. Guests use the speech recognition built into their browser, which may send audio to the browser maker (for example Google in Chrome).
  • The moderator's voice is generated from fixed lines (“Your word is…”), never from anything you say.
  • Word pronunciations may play from Merriam-Webster's servers, so your browser contacts them directly.

We don't use advertising or analytics trackers. Cookies are used only to keep you signed in.

What other people can see

Leaderboards show your display name (or “Speller” and a short code if you haven't set one), your country if you chose one, your score and your time. If you share a Daily Hive result, anyone with the link sees your name, score, time and which words you got right, but never the words themselves.

Deleting your data

On your profile you can delete your speech transcripts, delete all your progress, or delete your account and everything stored with it. Deletion is immediate and can't be undone.
